Most of us started life among a group of contemporaries, and pretty much whatever happened to them also happened to us – or provided a lesson in what not to do! As we get older our friends, coworkers and people we know begin to belong to a wider demographic, and so for the most part our lives no longer run along parallel tracks with those we see everyday.
While we may know roughly what to expect at midlife, and anticipate hot flashes and menopause with mixed emotions, it isn’t widely discussed. Particularly for those spending time with others who are younger, the odd symptoms and changes begin to make it clear that life is changing, but we may lack the ready group of contemporaries we had at adolescence to discuss these changes.
My goal for this site is to offer information to help you make your way through midlife and emerge at the other end healthier and happier than you started. You will find information and links to understanding what you want from the rest of your life, learning what your body is doing, making decisions and setting goals.
Many of these ideas and pieces of information arose from my efforts to work out what I was going to achieve and what was happening, and found I couldn’t readily find the information I needed. In some cases I wasn’t even very clear what I was trying to accomplish, so hope that having all this information in one place will give you ideas of options for what to do to help yourself.
Welcome along for the journey!
